These are the first 2 pics sent to us from photographer Jill Laber. We accidentally met her at our Baptism prep class 4 days after Emily was born. She and Laurie were making small talk about their kids and it came up that she was a photographer and had always wanted to photograph a newborn, but never had the opportunity. She came over to our house when Emily was 10 days old and took tons of pictures. Emily is definitely a ham! She was awake the whole time and almost even seemed to pose for the camera! Can't believe our luck in finding such a nice person who seems to like taking pictures of Emily as much as Mommy and Daddy do! We'll definitely be calling her again! We'll post more of the pics when we get them.

3 weeks old!

We're skipping ahead a good bit here, obviously. These last 3 weeks have been wonderful. Difficult, but wonderful. We were lucky enough to have help from Grom and Poppa Larry the first 10 days. Couldn't have made it through some rough spots without them!
Emily is growing every day and becoming more of a character. She sleeps 2-4 hours a stretch at night and cries only when she's hungry or during a diaper change. We definitely got blessed with a good baby! She's already had her first bath, her first trip to church and multiple trips to Target! Mommy's got a new shopping buddy and Daddy has a buddy to help wind down from rough days at work. Most of you have seen her pics, but if you want to see more, email me or leave me a message and I'll send you the link.

Emily Paige LeJeune arrives 3 1/2 weeks early!!!

What happened??? That was the question everyone had! Emily Paige LeJeune arrived via c-section Monday, April 7, 2008 at 3:07 am, weighing 7 lbs. 0.7 ounces.

My water broke at 11:45pm Sunday night. Of course, I had not one thing packed for the hospital, so here we are, running around the house in a daze, I'm in tears, trying to pack for the hospital. Next time, I'll be prepared! Got to the hospital by 12:15 and got hooked up to the monitors.
A few minutes later, the nurse asked if I had "felt that."
"Felt what?"
"Your contractions."
"Oh. Um, no." I thought that was just a nervous stomach, but now that she pointed that piece of info out, NOW I can feel them, THANKS!
A little while later, the contractions were about 3-5 minutes apart, but still not too bad, but another curve ball was thrown when an ultrasound showed Emily was breech. So now prospected hours of labor had turned into about 15 minutes of preparation for a c-section. Oh. My. God. Thank goodness Derek had a brave face put on, because Laurie was a flippin' basket case! The section went off without a hitch (just took a while for the spinal to kick in) and Emily came out screaming and with a head full of hair!

All along, we believed Miss Emily was going to be a term baby. I never had one contraction, not one complication, not one issue this entire pregnancy. Everything was going according to plan. So, go figure, Baby Girl decided to come early! Grom and Poppa Larry and Granny and Poppa James were all on vacation, Laurie and Derek were ready to go back to work on Monday morning, pretty much no one knew she was coming until she was already here!
As my OB said just before they wheeled me into the OR: "This is a good preparation for parenthood. Nothing will ever go as planned again."
Ain't it the truth!

Presby Allen Baby Shower

These are pics from the baby shower they threw for Derek and me at work back in March. One of our nurses, Mandi Zielinski (who graduated from Jennings High!) made the cake and arranged the whole thing. Amazing!!!

Late entry, but an important one!

36 Weeks

April 2, 2008

Less than a month to go!! YAY!!!!
Well, they say everything's bigger in Texas and now they can say the same about me and Emily! I am measuring 44 3/8 inches around. My feet and ankles feel like they measure about the same! We're getting into the fun part of pregnancy where everything's swelling, even with me propping my feet up. Oh well!
Doctor appointments are weekly now and nothing has changed. Blood pressure's fine, Baby Girl is fine, all is right with the world. No consistent contractions yet, and no dilation yet either. It looks like she still has a couple more weeks of baking to do. We don't know how big she is. All they will tell me is she is measuring "normal" for her age, whatever that means. I figure however big she is, she's going to make an appearance anyway, so let her have a little meat on her bones...she is a coonass afterall!
I do have to make a public apology to my mom. I played an awful April Fool's joke on her yesterday by calling her and telling her my water had broken. I was hoping she would recognize my sick sense of humor and know I was kidding, but she completely fell for it and was nearly peeling out in the driveway before I could tell her April Fool! SORRY, MOM!!!
We'll keep ya'll posted on any new developments in the coming days/weeks! Miss ya'll!
