3 weeks old!

Emily Paige LeJeune arrives 3 1/2 weeks early!!!
My water broke at 11:45pm Sunday night. Of course, I had not one thing packed for the hospital, so here we are, running around the house in a daze, I'm in tears, trying to pack for the hospital. Next time, I'll be prepared! Got to the hospital by 12:15 and got hooked up to the monitors.
A few minutes later, the nurse asked if I had "felt that."
"Felt what?"
"Your contractions."
"Oh. Um, no." I thought that was just a nervous stomach, but now that she pointed that piece of info out, NOW I can feel them, THANKS!
A little while later, the contractions were about 3-5 minutes apart, but still not too bad, but another curve ball was thrown when an ultrasound showed Emily was breech. So now prospected hours of labor had turned into about 15 minutes of preparation for a c-section. Oh. My. God. Thank goodness Derek had a brave face put on, because Laurie was a flippin' basket case! The section went off without a hitch (just took a while for the spinal to kick in) and Emily came out screaming and with a head full of hair!
All along, we believed Miss Emily was going to be a term baby. I never had one contraction, not one complication, not one issue this entire pregnancy. Everything was going according to plan. So, go figure, Baby Girl decided to come early! Grom and Poppa Larry and Granny and Poppa James were all on vacation, Laurie and Derek were ready to go back to work on Monday morning, pretty much no one knew she was coming until she was already here!
As my OB said just before they wheeled me into the OR: "This is a good preparation for parenthood. Nothing will ever go as planned again."
Ain't it the truth!

Well, they say everything's bigger in Texas and now they can say the same about me and Emily! I am measuring 44 3/8 inches around. My feet and ankles feel like they measure about the same! We're getting into the fun part of pregnancy where everything's swelling, even with me propping my feet up. Oh well!
Doctor appointments are weekly now and nothing has changed. Blood pressure's fine, Baby Girl is fine, all is right with the world. No consistent contractions yet, and no dilation yet either. It looks like she still has a couple more weeks of baking to do. We don't know how big she is. All they will tell me is she is measuring "normal" for her age, whatever that means. I figure however big she is, she's going to make an appearance anyway, so let her have a little meat on her bones...she is a coonass afterall!
I do have to make a public apology to my mom. I played an awful April Fool's joke on her yesterday by calling her and telling her my water had broken. I was hoping she would recognize my sick sense of humor and know I was kidding, but she completely fell for it and was nearly peeling out in the driveway before I could tell her April Fool! SORRY, MOM!!!
We'll keep ya'll posted on any new developments in the coming days/weeks! Miss ya'll!

34 weeks now and we are growing! Belly is measuring at 43 1/4 inches. I got a haircut last week, probably the last one for a while, so it got chopped! I'm still feeling good, but in the last week have become more and more tired and uncomfortable. Baby's feet are digging into my ribs, so I try and sit leaning back some so it's not too bad. My doctor says I'm rolling along on schedule, 6 weeks to go, but if I would happen to go into labor from here on out, they won't do anything to stop it, so the real waiting game begins!
I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep up at work. Some days are busier than others, so I try and sit down when I can. By the time I get home in the evening, I'm pretty worn out, but feel pretty good after a good night's sleep. Still working M-F, but I'll be going down to 4 or 3 days a week in the next week or so.
The gang at work threw me a surprise baby shower at work today. Cake, punch and more beautiful gifts! We are so blessed to work with such great people. I'll post those pics when I get them emailed to me.
Have a Happy Easter Everybody! (and Happy Birthday Daddy and Uncle Mike!)

30 Weeks
I'm going to try and take weekly pics and measurements for the rest of the duration. If you don't like pasty white skin, turn away, turn away!!! Belly is measuring at 42 inches. Doctor's appointment today went very well, nothing new, everything's right on time. Definitely hit home when the Dr. mentioned that I will be considered "term" in 7 weeks! GULP!Haven't had a chance to download pics from this past weekend's shower at the LeJeune's, but it was wonderful and we got even more beautiful gifts!

For those of you who hadn't heard already, we have a name! Her name will be Emily Paige LeJeune. Derek came up with Emily, and it wasn't until after we picked it that we found out that Emily was PawPaw Lafont's mother's name, so she will have a connection to her great-great grandmother. Paige comes from our niece Mallory Paige Abshire, who is our little angel in heaven who sent us Emily in the first place! We love the name and hope you like it too.
Feeling good still. Low back pain virtually gone the last couple days. Went to PT yesterday for some final tweaks on my mid back and now I only have to see her again if I need it.
Nothing much else going on. Work is busy, but not unbearable, so I am getting some walking in every day there. No foot swelling, just some ankle puffiness, but I've always had a slight cankle thing going, so there's no surprises there. As far as how Emily is doing, she is doing great. Had a dr. appointment Tuesday and all is well. She's turned a couple times in the last few days, so now I'm getting a couple of belly shots from her feet. Most days she kicks straight down, making me think I'll see a tiny foot shooting out of my nethers! (nice image, I know) That's one aspect of pregnancy I know I'll miss. It's like she's letting me know, "Hey! Still in here! Whatcha doing?? "
Even though I know she's in there, and I am definitely getting rounder, the idea of her being here still hasn't hit me. Our first baby shower is this weekend at my mom's, maybe that'll help. But the fact that she could be here in less than 3 months (or really at any time now) is not something I can even fathom right now. I guess the more baby gear we get in the house will help it settle in. Thanks for all the checking up on us! Hope the next 12 weeks will go as smoothly as the last 28!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday! Ours was lots of fun, but much too short.
23 weeks and the baby bump is growing daily! I read somewhere that my waistline will grow about 1/2 inch every week to week and a half. Oh, boy. At this point, I can still see my toes, but just barely! I'm enjoying finally looking pregnant, and still feeling really good so far. The most entertaining part of being pregnant is the dreams I've been having. Everything from talking babies, to knock-down, drag out arguments, to crazy dreams about food. I need to start writing these things down!
Baby Girl is kicking away! She even got the hiccups during Christmas Mass. Derek finally felt her kick on New Year's Eve, "Hi, Daddy!"

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!
It was so wonderful to see all the detail...the spine, the chambers of the heart, the eyes, the nose, the fingers and toes. It really is a miracle. What really amazed us was how every little move I made or anytime I laughed, she moved too! The best part was when she waved "hi" to Mommy and Daddy!
She's defintely a coonass. She talks with her hands! They never stopped moving! She kicked her feet and scratched her nose, but there was one problem...she was being modest! Derek was very happy to see that. It took a few good pokes from the ultrasound tech to get her to open her little legs! Finally we got a look and the tech said that the 2 little lines were her little privates and there was nothing else to be found! So for the 7 of you who voted for a boy, you lose!!!
We are completely overjoyed with seeing the baby today, regardless of if it had been a him or her. It's a shame we can't have an ultrasound on every visit, because you could sit there all day and watch your little miracle moving and growing all the time. Thanks for all the phone calls and well wishes! Love you all!

Here are some of the lastest pics taken in front of our tree. Mommy, Daddy and CC are feeling good, especially after getting a bad virus over Thanksgiving weekend. Trust me, nobody would've wanted to be around us!
I can definitely say I am in the "Honeymoon Phase" of pregnancy...I'm feeling good and looking good!
4 more days until we found out if CC is a boy or girl!!! Be sure and place your bets on the poll on the upper right-hand corner!
By the way, say a special prayer for my cousin's little girl Chloe that her MRI will be all clear! Thanks! Love ya'll!

Yes, I know it's been a while! This time of year can get pretty busy at work, so needless to say Derek and I have been running!
And our Little Turkey has been growing! I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow, already about 1/3 of the way through my 2nd trimester. It's funny, one minute I think this whole process is dragging on and on, but when you look at it that way, this baby will be here before you know it!
Big milestones since the last post: I am officially in maternity clothes! This past weekend, I finally gave up my pre-mommy jeans (I had no choice!) and wore a pair of maternity jeans my best friend Shannon loaned me. I now have 2 garbage bags full of clothes from her and Derek's sister Monica, so I think I'm set for a while. Thanks so much!
Our coworkers have all made the comments that I am showing now. There has been definite growth in the last 4 weeks and I am finally getting used to my little "pooch" there. No movement that I've noticed yet, but my doctor said that will probably come in the next 2 weeks or so. That should be interesting!
Still feeling good. Started with a little head cold in the last 2 days, but nothing major. Had my checkup yesterday and I'm still "easy" (as the doctors put it). Baby heart rate: 150 bpm...I guess CC is chillin' out this month. Heard it loud and clear though! Our next ultrasound is in 3 weeks, so start placing your bets on pink or blue. I just hope we get a clear picture on whatever it is!
We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We really wish we could be with all of you. This time of year really makes us wish the drive was shorter. At least we had a mini-Thanksgiving with Derek's family in Monroe this past weekend. Great to see the family and how much all the kids have grown. Can't wait until we can add our own little one to that bunch!
Derek will be working without a day off until Dec. 1, so say a prayer for his sanity! I'll be home Thursday, probably putting up Xmas decorations and cooking a turkey breast, so pray for the cook too! It's not Daddy's gumbo, Cheesy Corn, Missisippi Mud Pie or Grandma's rolls, but it'll do! We'll be home for Christmas, so we're counting down the days! Love you and miss you all!
