Hi everybody! Not too much going on these days! Had a few days of crying/screaming jags in the evenings. We were afraid Emily had colic, but her pediatrician wanted to try a new rice-based formula and Zantac to see if it was silent reflux, and so far, she has been much more content. We get smiles sometimes and we are kicking our feet a bunch when we're excited. Can't wait until we have her laughing and smiling all the time!

1 Month Old!
.jpg)
Can't believe it's only been one month! It feels like Emily has been here forever! Slowly, we're getting into a bit of a routine. Okay, well not really, but we're figuring out Little Miss E's likes and dislikes:
Likes
1. warm baths (in her bathtub and with Mommy in the big tub)
2. long walks in the stroller
3. going to Target with Mommy
4. Daddy's lap
5. Daddy's goatee
6. Daddy Daddy Daddy!
Dislikes
1. diaper changes
2. sitting still in her carseat
3. having both arms swaddled
4. not getting a bottle NOW!
She's growing and changing every day. She's 8 pounds 6 ounces, 20 inches at her 1 month checkup. She just outgrew her Newborn sized clothes and is now in 0-3 months. Now that the weather is warming up, Emily will have plenty of new outfits to wear!

May 1, 2008...what was I supposed to do today? Hmmmm....
.jpg)
Hmmmm....Oh, yeah, BE BORN!!! Today was supposed to be Emily's due date. Instead, she is 3 1/2 weeks old, eating between 3 and 4 ounces of formula every 2-3 hours and outgrowing her newborn pj's! Our 1 month checkup is in a week, so we'll have her official stats. Until then, we're visiting with Granny and Poppa James and Kaide, getting spoiled and loving it!

These are the first 2 pics sent to us from photographer Jill Laber. We accidentally met her at our Baptism prep class 4 days after Emily was born. She and Laurie were making small talk about their kids and it came up that she was a photographer and had always wanted to photograph a newborn, but never had the opportunity. She came over to our house when Emily was 10 days old and took tons of pictures. Emily is definitely a ham! She was awake the whole time and almost even seemed to pose for the camera! Can't believe our luck in finding such a nice person who seems to like taking pictures of Emily as much as Mommy and Daddy do! We'll definitely be calling her again! We'll post more of the pics when we get them.
3 weeks old!

We're skipping ahead a good bit here, obviously. These last 3 weeks have been wonderful. Difficult, but wonderful. We were lucky enough to have help from Grom and Poppa Larry the first 10 days. Couldn't have made it through some rough spots without them!
Emily is growing every day and becoming more of a character. She sleeps 2-4 hours a stretch at night and cries only when she's hungry or during a diaper change. We definitely got blessed with a good baby! She's already had her first bath, her first trip to church and multiple trips to Target! Mommy's got a new shopping buddy and Daddy has a buddy to help wind down from rough days at work. Most of you have seen her pics, but if you want to see more, email me or leave me a message and I'll send you the link.
Emily Paige LeJeune arrives 3 1/2 weeks early!!!
What happened??? That was the question everyone had! Emily Paige LeJeune arrived via c-section Monday, April 7, 2008 at 3:07 am, weighing 7 lbs. 0.7 ounces.
My water broke at 11:45pm Sunday night. Of course, I had not one thing packed for the hospital, so here we are, running around the house in a daze, I'm in tears, trying to pack for the hospital. Next time, I'll be prepared! Got to the hospital by 12:15 and got hooked up to the monitors.
A few minutes later, the nurse asked if I had "felt that."
"Felt what?"
"Your contractions."
"Oh. Um, no." I thought that was just a nervous stomach, but now that she pointed that piece of info out, NOW I can feel them, THANKS!
A little while later, the contractions were about 3-5 minutes apart, but still not too bad, but another curve ball was thrown when an ultrasound showed Emily was breech. So now prospected hours of labor had turned into about 15 minutes of preparation for a c-section. Oh. My. God. Thank goodness Derek had a brave face put on, because Laurie was a flippin' basket case! The section went off without a hitch (just took a while for the spinal to kick in) and Emily came out screaming and with a head full of hair!
All along, we believed Miss Emily was going to be a term baby. I never had one contraction, not one complication, not one issue this entire pregnancy. Everything was going according to plan. So, go figure, Baby Girl decided to come early! Grom and Poppa Larry and Granny and Poppa James were all on vacation, Laurie and Derek were ready to go back to work on Monday morning, pretty much no one knew she was coming until she was already here!
As my OB said just before they wheeled me into the OR: "This is a good preparation for parenthood. Nothing will ever go as planned again."
Ain't it the truth!

Less than a month to go!! YAY!!!!
Well, they say everything's bigger in Texas and now they can say the same about me and Emily! I am measuring 44 3/8 inches around. My feet and ankles feel like they measure about the same! We're getting into the fun part of pregnancy where everything's swelling, even with me propping my feet up. Oh well!
Doctor appointments are weekly now and nothing has changed. Blood pressure's fine, Baby Girl is fine, all is right with the world. No consistent contractions yet, and no dilation yet either. It looks like she still has a couple more weeks of baking to do. We don't know how big she is. All they will tell me is she is measuring "normal" for her age, whatever that means. I figure however big she is, she's going to make an appearance anyway, so let her have a little meat on her bones...she is a coonass afterall!
I do have to make a public apology to my mom. I played an awful April Fool's joke on her yesterday by calling her and telling her my water had broken. I was hoping she would recognize my sick sense of humor and know I was kidding, but she completely fell for it and was nearly peeling out in the driveway before I could tell her April Fool! SORRY, MOM!!!
We'll keep ya'll posted on any new developments in the coming days/weeks! Miss ya'll!

Hey Gang! Sorry it's been a couple weeks! We've been pretty busy at work and kinda forgot last week's pic and measurement.
34 weeks now and we are growing! Belly is measuring at 43 1/4 inches. I got a haircut last week, probably the last one for a while, so it got chopped! I'm still feeling good, but in the last week have become more and more tired and uncomfortable. Baby's feet are digging into my ribs, so I try and sit leaning back some so it's not too bad. My doctor says I'm rolling along on schedule, 6 weeks to go, but if I would happen to go into labor from here on out, they won't do anything to stop it, so the real waiting game begins!
I don't know how much longer I'll be able to keep up at work. Some days are busier than others, so I try and sit down when I can. By the time I get home in the evening, I'm pretty worn out, but feel pretty good after a good night's sleep. Still working M-F, but I'll be going down to 4 or 3 days a week in the next week or so.
The gang at work threw me a surprise baby shower at work today. Cake, punch and more beautiful gifts! We are so blessed to work with such great people. I'll post those pics when I get them emailed to me.
Have a Happy Easter Everybody! (and Happy Birthday Daddy and Uncle Mike!)

Went to the dr. yesterday. Nearly 32 weeks and all's still going great, but a definite reality check: we asked what their policy is on inducing labor, and basically, they are up for induction anytime after 37 weeks. Not that I want to be induced (ask me again at 37 weeks!), but they will not let me go over 1 week past my due date of May 1. So statistically, we could be parents in as little as 5 weeks (April 9) or as many as 8 or 9 weeks (May 1-8). Ummmmm....pardon me, but holy crap.

31 Weeks
9 more weeks (more or less!) to go! No pics of the belly yet this week. We loaned our camera to Andy and Shannon for Shannon's 1st marathon last weekend. Congratulations, Shanny! Belly is measuring 42 1/4 inches this week. Still feeling good, still working M-F, but can definitely feel like I run out of steam by about 3:00 every afternoon. I usually go home, lie down for a little while, then I'm ok. Not too uncomfortable yet, so I'm enjoying feeling good while I can!
