Eating Puffs wears me out!

Derek and I were sitting in the living room and heard Emily babbling away, munching down on banana puffs, when I suddenly noticed she had gotten quiet. I thought to myself, "how much trouble can she be in, she's in the high chair?" And this is what I found...

Getting Tubes

After 6 rounds of antibiotics since September, it was a forgone conclusion that Emily was going to get ear tubes. Luckily, we were first in line at 7:30 Thursday morning. 19 minutes later, it was all done and we had a not-so-happy kiddo on our hands, but the nurses had written "LSU" on her little yellow gown (nice touch!). After about an hour of crying, she finally wore herself out and slept for almost 3 hours. She woke up and immediately started playing and smiling, as if nothing had ever happened. She continues to do very well and will have a follow-up appointment with her doctor later this month. Thank you all so much for your calls, prayers and concern!

Crawl, Hiccup, Clap, Repeat

(I tried to turn this video upright, but for some reason it didn't come out!)

10 Months Old!

We're in the double digits now! After making it through getting tubes in Thursday, we made 10 months on Saturday! To say we're mobile now would be a huge understatement! We're cruising on all the furniture, especially the new chair and ottoman. She is known as "the climber" of her daycare class. Also, she's gotten the lovely habit of spitting, particularly when she has a mouth full of pasta or chicken. She gets so excited she just spits away, smiling and laughing the whole time. She is feeding herself finger foods like pasta, pieces of bread and is a huge fan of Puffs. 21 pounds the last time we checked!

Look at them thighs!!!

There's my tooth! I loooove me some puffs!!!

I love it when you blow me kisses!

I was giving Emily a bath last night and blew her a kiss and for some reason got hysterical laughter. This video was from my cell phone, so the quality isn't so great.

More Randomness

I can hold my own bottle...sometimes.

Notice the rubber covering on the edge of the table??? No more teeth marks!

Clean up my toys? No! Time to dance!

A little light reading before bedtime...

A Week of Firsts...

We have teeth!!! Well, we have tooth, actually. Emily's first tooth made an appearance Wednesday. We figured the fussiness earlier in the week was from ear infection #6 (we're getting tubes Feb. 5), but the tooth surely had something to do with it too. Tried getting a picture of it, but it's still not poking out a whole lot.
That first picture is a good illustration of why we needed to have the other first this week: First Haircut! After about 6 people at work told us that Emily needed a haircut, we finally realized the hair that hadn't fallen out at 5 months was never going to even itself out with the new growth. E was very good for her haircut and kept still...most of the time.
No more chicks!

Meeting Nikki

This is a little Christmas revisited. On the way to Jennings, we stopped in Baton Rouge and met up with Nikki and her brother Tad. We miss you, Nikki, and the next time we see you, we hope it's in Hawaii!!!

First Attempt at Big People Food

Finger lickin' good?
Get ready for this next one, folks...
This is what I think about your stinkin' carrots, Mom.

Just kidding, Mommy! They were pretty good.

9 months old!

9 months old, and as you can see we have lots of energy! We are now pulling up to stand on everything! We even walk a little when holding onto Mommy or Daddy or my new push toy. We're also dealing with ear infection(s) #5. Luckily enough, Emily doesn't fuss too much with that, except when we have to give her medicine. No teeth still, but this time I really think there might be one coming out soon! Really! She's babbling all kinds of things now: nanana, tatata, dadada, mamama. She says "dedede!" when she's mad, like when we wipe her nose. We are having tons of fun and are looking forward to our weigh-in tomorrow at the pediatrician! 19 1/2 lbs (60th percentile) and 26 1/2 inches tall (20th percentile).

Guess I should set this one up. Poppa was fussing Shorty to quit barking so loud and Emily thought this was the funniest thing she'd ever heard. That laugh is priceless!

A Rite of Passage

Each Lafont child has done it. It really is a rite of passage in our family.

What is it?

Climbing the steps at MawMaw and PawPaw's.

Christmas at the Lafonts

Second stop in the Christmas Tour of 2008 was the Lafonts! 19 adults and 7 kiddos made for a very full house, but it was a wonderful holiday!
Emma, we know you want a dog, but Derek does not count!

Oooh...a bow!
I can eat that.

Thank you for my pretty dress, Grom!

How many times did we take this picture? At least Gail didn't fall over the ottoman this year!

Christmas at the LeJeunes

First stop for Christmas 2008 was the LeJeunes in Jennings. We had Christmas presents and dinner Monday night and Christmas Eve mass. Emily loved playing with Kaide and Zippy the chihuahua (though we think Zippy loved Emily a whole lot more!)
Emily must have been under the mistletoe!

Wait! Come back!

Ooh, presents!
I can eat that.

Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!
