Karate Kid

Forgot to post these the other day! For whatever reason, Emily's daycare wanted to celebrate different cultures of the world. Each class dressed up as different countries (China, Greece, Mexico, etc.) and had a parade in the parking lot of the school. The infant class represented Japan. One of the moms decided to be verrry generous and bought karate outfits for all the kiddos in the class. Hee-ya!!!

Use the Crane Technique, Emily-Son!

6 months old!

Half a year gone! Wow. Emily went for her 6 month checkup. 16 pounds, 6 ounces (55th percentile) and 25 inches long (22nd percentile). No teeth yet, but lots of drool and gummy smiles! As you can see, she can get her toes all the way to her mouth now, so she loves to munch on those and whatever else you put in her hands. Her hair is growing back some, still pretty thick in back, but not thick enough for hair bows again just yet. Mommy's just going to have to be patient! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE TAD!!!

5 months old

Okay, so I'm a little late on this one. Emily turned 5 months old on Sept. 7. She is almost 16 pounds now, rolling from her back to her belly (all the time!) and is eating any type of baby food you put in front of her. Sweet potatoes are a favorite, bananas not so much. She loves peas and green beans too. No crawling yet. Derek says she doesn't have enough traction yet. She laughs and smiles all the time and is much more observant of what's going on around her. She's doing very well at daycare and is sleeping through the night nearly every night. Only problem is she is up with the chickens between 4:00 and 6:00am every single morning.

Don't try it, young lady...
...wait a minute...
Hey! I'm trying to take your picture!

Grab it!

Now that Emily is reaching and grabbing for things, we noticed during last night's bath that she was reaching for the water when we rinsed her off. She just can't understand why she can't hold onto the water!

Vacation

Most of you have seen these pictures, but I wanted to post a couple of our favorites from our vacation to Park City, Utah. The original plan was to go to Orlando, but not knowing what Hurricane Ike was going to do, we decided to head west to the mountains. The Winter Olympic museum was really neat and the weather gorgeous! We had a great time despite Emily's ear infections and Derek's cold. Can't wait for winter now!!

She's a maniac, MANIAC on the floor!

Emily is sporting her legwarmers a la Flashdance. I LOVE THESE!!!

I'm 5 months old....ohhhhmmmmm

I'm Telling You!

Sunday mornings are pretty fun around the LeJeune house. They used to be fairly quiet until just recently when a chatterbox moved in! What do you think she's trying to say???

We've created a monster!

We knew it would happen! We've been trying to teach Emily to blow raspberries. Wouldn't you know she'd get the hang of it with a mouthful of squash?

Adventures in Solids Part 1

First time trying solids! Rice cereal is first. Started out pretty good. She seemed interested, even opened her mouth and followed the spoon around with Mommy. 5 or 6 small spoonfuls, then all of a sudden got very bored and verrrry mad. Tried a couple more spoonfuls a few minutes later, then E wanted her old friend the bottle. We say it was a pretty good attempt for our first time (ALL of us!)

4 months old!

4 month old stats: 14lbs 7oz (66th percentile), 23 3/4 inches (30th percentile). Emily is definitely growing, despite being in her cast for 2 weeks. Matter of fact, she doesn't even seem to have been bothered or delayed by the cast at all. We're smiling, sorta laughing, blowing raspberries, and now teething! She is drooling and munching down on just about everything, teething rings, toys, blankets, mommy and daddy's fingers, and her favorite...her own fingers. We've found her in her crib with almost her entire fist in her mouth, happily chomping away. Fun times!

Thank you for my outfits, Granny, Poppa James and Kaide!

No more cast!!!

Emily got her cast taken off Wednesday, a little over 2 weeks after she had it put on. No tears when she had the cast cut off either! Xrays showed that her femur has completely healed. Woohoo!!!

Me and My Shadow

Our good friend and coworker Linda (aka Nana) gave Emily this adorable kitty cat with the same hurt leg as hers. Linda is obviously a great nurse, because she "fixed" the kitty's broken leg!

Emily looooves her kitty, which we've nicknamed Crutches!
